About Jakarta

Jakarta (also DKI Jakarta) is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. It also has a greater population than any other city in Southeast Asia. The city located on the northwest coast of Java with an area of 661.52 square kilometres (255.41 sq mi) and approximate population of 8,489,910. Jakarta has a hot and humid equatorial/tropical climate.

Jakarta is the country's economic, cultural and political center. Major landmarks in Jakarta include Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Bank of Indonesia, and the National Monument (Tugu Monas). The city is the seat of the ASEAN Secretariat. Jakarta is served by the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, and Tanjung Priok harbour which is connected by several intercity and commuter railways, and served by several bus lines running on reserved busways.

Jakarta today is packed with traffics, branded cars, electronic gadgets, cafes, and many other that makes one easily recognaize it as a cosmopolitan city.

Jakarta emerge into gateway of Indonesia starting from lifestyles (such as cafes, spas, yoga), fashions, to headquater of multinational company's. The fast changes due to developement and typical urban culture, makes Jakarta becomes more interesting to explore.
